REVIEW AND CONCLUSION

Halloween Aftermath

If you haven’t heard, during Halloween Weekend there was a huge snow storm in the East Coast. While this is not the first October Snow Storm we’ve seen, it is still unusual. And it really ****ed up Halloween Weekend for everyone down here. Many people were without power and heat for many days. I had no power on Saturday, and no internet access until Wednesday of last week. This prevented me from getting videos or even text posts up. Now I was able to go to Starbucks to get internet access, at least once travel became easier. But even then, some of my videos weren’t finished. In fact, I couldn’t get to the theatre to film the rest of my Batman Forever review. So things got pushed back, and bad. Still working on the Annihilation review, but it should be up soon. Batman Forever might take a little while, so I hope you’ll all be patient.

Anyway, there’s a lesson to be learned form all this. I’m usually uploading reviews immediately after I finish them. Usually that’s the way I have to roll, because of work schedule, other commitments, blah blah blah blah blah ****ing blah. But I really need to start having videos finished much earlier than the planned release date. Cause if I had all my Halloween posts finished before Halloween Weekend, I would have still posted during that weekend. I could have gone to Starbucks just for uploads, as I did on Halloween day with the Top Ten Stupidest Things in Paranormal Activity. Wondering what people thought of Spike. No one ever seems to comment on him in any videos he’s been in. He’s a hit at Halloween parties though. Anyway, I digress. Bottom line, I’m going to try to do videos more often, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be posting them right away. The podcasts and the Let’s Play videos have been good for quick posts to keep this site active. Doing the Halloween theme was fun, so I may do more theme months in the future, as long as I get started on them very early. I really should do my Halloween videos in July, if I want them ready.

The really sad thing is how the Haunted House suffered this year. So much time and energy is put into that thing, my friend who runs it puts heart and soul into it, and we had maybe 500 people total. We lost two nights because of the weather, added two to the next week, but it didn’t seem to help. Halloween night was really disappointing and my friend has been saying he will not do it next year. We are trying to talk him into reconsidering, and we may succeed. But I completely understand where he’s coming from. If you’ve done anything in the entertainment world, be it professional or non, you’ve had this kind of experience. You put hours upon hours, spend much more money than you feel you should’ve, and you get 8 audience members. ****ing sucks. And it’s a possibility you have to live with if you’re going to do this.

But, when this Haunted House is a success, it’s HUGE. I mean, people waiting in line for an hour and a half, I kid you not. And even when nights are slow, it’s still a heck of a lot of fun. The last group that went through on the last night of the Haunt, the people were so scared that they ran out of the Haunt screaming. And the best part is WE CHASED THEM DOWN THE STREET! Oh, what a way to end it. And I really hope it happens next year. If it doesn’t, I’m gonna be in a bit of a bind. I love doing this thing, but it’s really hard to find places that will do it, or do it well enough. Even harder is to get one started. If you are thinking about it, consider everything that’s been said in this post. But if you have a passion for this sort of thing, do not let anything I said stop you. There’s only so many Halloween Nuts out there, so we need ‘ya!

13 Nights of Halloween: Top Ten Stupidest Things in Paranormal Activity

13 Nights of Halloween – Top 10 Things That Scared the **** out of me.

Please keep in mind that this is a list of things that scared me throughout my life.

Some were childhood fears that I’ve since gotten over…for the most part

#10 – Violin music.

Yeah, sounds weird. Well I think it goes back to something I was told as a kid, and for whatever reason I believed it; violin music plays at a Devil’s wedding. I had violin music on one of those Scary Sounds audio cassette tapes that they used to sell at Halloween stores. And every time I heard it, I imagined devils at a wedding. Sounds more like something that would make me laugh, but for whatever reason, I got some scary images in my head. Most that I can’t even remember. I had a wild imagination.

#9- Dogs

Despite the fact that I had one as a kid, other dogs scared me. I was bitten by a dog at a young age. So then, anytime a dog came running after me (which they always did when they were playing, never attacking) I assumed they were coming to bite me, and I was scared. I especially hated big dogs, and something about German Shepherds freaked me out.

#8

Closet Monsters

Again, I had a wild imagination. So if my closet door was left open, every single coat would seem like a monster to me. The mind can play tricks on you if you let it, and with me, it often did.

#7

The Woods.

I’ve always had a lot of them nearby. First of all, there is one thing in the woods that has scared me more than anything else. Second, I played many a games of Manhunt with my neighbors, who delighted to jump out and yell boo. Sometimes they’d use a prop or a costume to add to the effect. Even though I knew it was them, the very act that they were trying to scare me, was scary? Why because that’s how every ****ing horror movie and campfire story starts. Luckily, when I realized how allergic I was to Poison Ivy, I had an excuse to not go in the woods.

#6

The Crypt Keeper

I don’t know what it is, but he freaked the **** out of me. I couldn’t even watch the intro when they warned that the material was inappropriate for kids. If I heard my Mom watching, I was already scared. Years later, I played him in the Haunted Trail. Fear and obsession go hand and hand.

#5

Witches

The movie The Witches gave me nightmares for about a year. In addition to closet monsters, I’d swear I saw The Grand High Witch in my room every night. Nothing in my room looked like her. But the ceiling of my room was very very dark. And when you can’t see anything, your imagination sees for you. Not to mention, my friends told me that a real Witch lived on our neighborhood. We Trick or Treated at the house every year and she always asked where we lived. Man my friends had fun with me. I’m surprised they didn’t have me looking for the faded remains of the word “gullible” written in the street.

#4

Dolls and Stuffed Animals

There’s something about them that’s so frightening even today. The stillness, the staring eyes. And at some point in our childhood, we saw them move on their own. It was only our imagination, or was it? Halloween animatronics are actually the scariest to me, when they aren’t moving. You aren’t convinced that they won’t move again. Especially when I forget whether or not I switched them off. Then there’s the movie Dolls and, more importantly, Child’s Play. Ever own a My Buddy toy? If not, google it. Tell me that doesn’t look like Chucky.

#3

Clowns

Need I say anymore?

#2

Phone Calls

This is something that scares me even today. Beyond the Scream movies, and the Urban Legend about the babysitter, I’ve had a few too many stalkers. If you’re trying to get rid of someone that you aren’t interested in, then a phone call can be a very scary thing. Especially late at night.

#1

Snakes

Indiana Jones has ****ing nothing on me. I see a snake, ****ing Superman can’t catch me. I don’t know why. Maybe because snakes are used so frequently to heighten fear. Maybe because I lived in the wilderness. Maybe because in The Bible, Satan takes human form. Maybe because of that drug PSA from the 80s. Youtube that if you want nightmares for 25 years.
